Show or hide products
Applies toShopify
How it works
Each customer sees the products tagged for them, and products with no tag. B2B Catalogs works this out from customer tags, product tags and variant metafields:
| What you tag | Tag or metafield | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Customer | b2b | Marks the customer as a B2B customer. |
| Product | b2b-only | Hides the product from retail (B2C) customers. Only customers tagged b2b see it. |
| Product | b2c-only | Hides the product from B2B customers. Only retail (B2C) customers see it. |
| Variant | sparklayer.settings | Hides the product for a customer group when every variant is hidden for that group. See Hide products from a customer group. |
Products with neither tag are shown to everyone.

This is the same b2b tag SparkLayer uses to identify B2B customers, so customers you've already set up for SparkLayer don't need another tag.

- In your Shopify admin, go to Products (opens in your Shopify admin in a new tab) and open the product.
- Add the tag

A hidden product is hidden on product pages, collection pages and in store search. If a customer opens its URL directly, they see the access denied page. Products already in a customer's cart stay there: see B2B Catalogs limitations.
Hide products from a customer group
This needs the SparkLayer Wholesale app as well as B2B Catalogs.
To hide a whole product from one customer group, hide every one of its variants from that group. You do this with SparkLayer's variant-level selling rules in the sparklayer.settings metafield, by setting display to false for the group.
When all of a product's variants are hidden for the signed-in customer's customer group, B2B Catalogs hides the product too.
For how to write the rules, see Catalogs per customer group.
