Price editor
How it works
The Price editor is for one-off changes, such as giving one product a special price on your trade list. For changes to many products, upload a CSV file instead.
The editor has 2 levels:
| Screen | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Price editor | A search box and a product table with Product, ID or SKU and Retail price. Click a product's arrow to show its variants underneath. |
| A variant's prices | The variant's details, its Shopify price, and a card for each price list with the variant's price on that list. |
It's also the quickest way to check whether a product has a price on a list, when diagnosing pricing issues.
Find a product's prices
Pricing > Price editor
Walk through a working copy of Pricing > Price editor, step by step. Nothing you do here changes your store.
- Go to Pricing,Price editor (opens in your SparkLayer Dashboard in a new tab).
- Search by product name, ID, barcode, variant SKU or option.
- Click the arrow next to the product to show its variants. If you searched for a variant's SKU, the product opens already.
- Click the variant's option name to see its prices.
More detail
- The variant's page shows the product name, its SKU and Shopify ID, and the option. Use the Variant menu to switch to another variant, or View product in Shopify to open it in your Shopify admin.
- Shopify price shows the variant's price in Shopify. It's read-only: change it on the product in Shopify.
- Each price list card shows the list's name and currency, and a table of Quantity, Unit of measure and Price.
Edit or remove a price
You can edit a price on a manual price list, or on an automatic list you've overridden for this SKU.
- Find the product and open the variant.
- In the price list's card, click Edit next to the price.
- Enter the new Price for 1 or more and click Save price.
To delete a price, click Remove next to it, then click Remove price. On an overridden automatic list, the SKU goes back to the list's automatic rule.
Override an automatic price for one SKU
An automatic price list works out its prices from a rule, such as "Automatic: 20% off the Shopify price." To give one variant an exact price on that list:
- Find the product and open the variant.
- In the automatic list's card, click Override for this SKU.
- Enter the Price for 1 or more and click Save price.
The card now says "Overridden for this SKU." At Pricing,Price lists (opens in your SparkLayer Dashboard in a new tab), the list's Type counts the extra SKU, for example Automatic + 1 SKU. To go back to the rule, click Remove next to the price.
Add a price
Add a price to give a variant a quantity break or a unit of measure price.
- Find the product and open the variant.
- Under the price list's table, click Add a new price.
- Enter the quantity and price. For unit of measure pricing, also enter the unit of measure.
- Save the price.
Add prices for a product that isn't found
If a search finds nothing, you'll see "No product was found for SKU …". You can still click Create pricing for SKU … to add prices for a SKU that isn't in your catalogue yet.
FAQs
The price is on an automatic price list, so it's worked out from the list's rule. Click Override for this SKU to set an exact price for that variant, or change the list's percentage at Pricing,Price lists (opens in your SparkLayer Dashboard in a new tab). See Set up automatic pricing.
On a manual list, upload the product's SKU and price by CSV. See Upload prices by CSV. On an automatic list, every product already has a price from the rule.
In Shopify. The Shopify price card is read-only and comes from the product in your Shopify admin. Automatic price lists based on it update when you change it.
