Review and apply changes
What a proposal shows
When you ask for a change in Ask SparkLayer, the answer includes a proposal card.
| Part | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Title | What the change is, for example New price list: Trade 30%, Update Trade 20% or New customer group: Wholesale. |
| Summary | The change in one sentence. |
| Badges | The environment it applies to (Live or Test) and its status. |
| Details | The fields being set, such as Name, Pricing rule, Products, Customer groups and Currency. |
| Preview | A few sample prices, for example "Showing 4 of 1,204". Prices are worked out from the price list's rule, so the rule is what's saved, not each price. |
| Footer | The proposal's ID, the store and environment, and when it expires. |
On a live proposal, a line under the details reminds you: This changes what buyers see on your live store as soon as you apply it.
Proposal statuses
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Waiting for your approval | Ready for you to apply, edit or discard. |
| Applied | Saved to your store. |
| Discarded | You discarded it. Nothing changed. |
| Cancelled | You stopped the reply while it was being prepared. Nothing changed. |
| Expired | It wasn't applied within 24 hours. Nothing changed. |
Apply a change
- Check the proposal: the details, the preview and the Live or Test badge.
- Click Apply to live or Apply to test. The button matches the environment the proposal was made for.
- On live, a window asks Apply to your live store? and shows the change. Click Apply to live to confirm. Changes to test apply straight away.
Ask Sparkie confirms with Done. and a summary, then suggests what to do next. Buyers see a live change the next time a page loads. To see it in the dashboard, click View price lists or View customer groups on the card.
When a reply has 2 proposals, such as the guided wholesale setup, click Apply both to live (or Apply both to test). This applies them together with one confirmation. You can also apply them one at a time.
More detail
- A proposal stays on the store and environment it was made for. If you switch from Live to Test in the chat, earlier proposals still apply to live. New ones are made on test. See Choose the store and environment.
- A test change says It's on Test only, so buyers on your live store won't see it.
Change a proposal before you apply it
To edit a change before it's saved, click Open in form. The change opens in a normal SparkLayer form, where you can edit anything and save it yourself.
- Customer groups open on the group's own page, filled in from the chat. The banner reads Filled in from your chat. Review it, change anything, then save to your store. Click Save to apply it. If the group uses a price list that's still only a proposal, the banner tells you to apply that in the chat too.
- Price lists open in a window, such as New price list. It has fields like Price list name, Discount off retail or New discount off retail (which shows the current discount). Click Save to apply it, or Cancel to go back to the chat.
The activity log marks a change saved this way as (edited in the form).
Discard a change
Click Discard on the proposal. Its status changes to Discarded and nothing is saved. The activity log records that you discarded it.
You don't have to discard a proposal you don't want. It expires on its own after 24 hours.
Undo a change
- On an applied proposal, click Undo this change.
- Ask Sparkie prepares the change that puts things back, as a new proposal. Nothing is undone yet.
- Check it, then apply it like any other change.
Undo this change works for changes to an existing price list or customer group. You can't undo a new price list or customer group from the chat, because Ask Sparkie can't delete. If you don't want it, delete it yourself at Pricing,Price lists (opens in your SparkLayer Dashboard in a new tab) or Customers,Groups (opens in your SparkLayer Dashboard in a new tab). You can also change anything Ask Sparkie applied in the dashboard.
Limits
| Limit | Detail |
|---|---|
| 25 applied changes a day | Per environment: 25 on live and 25 on test. It resets at midnight. Asking questions is never limited. |
| 24-hour expiry | A proposal you don't apply expires after 24 hours. Ask again for a fresh one. |
| 500 rows per proposal | One proposal can set or remove up to 500 SKU prices. Changing a whole list by a percentage changes only its rule, so this limit doesn't apply to it. |
| No deleting | Ask Sparkie can't delete price lists or customer groups. |
The daily limit protects your store from an AI app making changes in a loop. To see how many you've used, open the Activity drawer. See The daily limit.
Changes that need a paid plan
Ask Sparkie prepares any change, but some can only be applied on a paid plan. For example, the free Basic plan includes 3 price lists. If you already have 3 and ask for another:
- The proposal shows a Needs Starter banner. It explains that Basic includes 3 price lists, and Starter has unlimited price lists and is free for 14 days.
- Click Start Starter trial to apply to choose a plan. The proposal waits in the chat.
- Once the trial starts, Ask Sparkie tells you there's no price list limit now. Click Apply to live or Apply to test when you're ready.
See Your plan for what each plan includes.
If a change won't apply

FAQs
No. Ask Sparkie only prepares proposals. A change is saved only when you click apply, or save it from Open in form. Other AI apps you connect can only apply changes if you allow it when you connect them. See Connected AI apps.
Live changes affect what your buyers see straight away, so you confirm them first. Test changes don't reach your live store, so they apply at once.
Go to Pricing,Price lists (opens in your SparkLayer Dashboard in a new tab), open the list's ⋯ menu and click Delete. Ask Sparkie can't delete price lists, so you do this yourself. See Price lists.
