Plans and billing
Every SparkLayer plan from Starter to Enterprise works with WooCommerce. See Plans and features and the SparkLayer pricing page (opens in a new tab).
You manage billing in the SparkLayer Dashboard: your plan is in the card at the foot of the sidebar (Plan card). Plans, free trials and billing follow the same rules as on Shopify.
WooCommerce setup
SparkLayer isn't in the WordPress plugin directory. Register with SparkLayer (opens in a new tab) and download the plugin from Install SparkLayer on WooCommerce.
WooCommerce (opens in a new tab) 9 or later, installed on WordPress 6 or later, with PHP 8.2 or later. WooCommerce support is in early access.
Yes. You can install SparkLayer on your existing retail WooCommerce store and run both from it. We call this a hybrid setup. When B2B customers sign in, they see the SparkLayer frontend interfaces with their prices and ordering options. Try it on our B2B and retail demo store (opens in a new tab).
Store setup
On a block theme, the SparkLayer widgets are installed automatically. If you need help, contact our support team and we'll advise you.
Yes, as long as you're on WooCommerce 9 or later and WordPress 6 or later. On a block theme, the widgets are added automatically. On other themes, they're added to your theme files by you or your developer, or our team can help. See Add the widgets.
The SparkLayer widgets (B2B pricing, the cart and the My Account area) only load when a customer in a B2B customer group signs in. Everyone else sees your store as it is today, so you control exactly who sees B2B prices and can place B2B orders.
Yes. SparkLayer can run alongside it, so you can try SparkLayer first and remove the other plugin when you're ready. If the other plugin changed your theme's code, you can ask its developer to remove those changes, but you don't have to.
Payments
Yes, when they choose Pay Online by Card at the SparkLayer checkout. They're then taken to the WooCommerce checkout, which shows every payment method you've set up in WooCommerce (such as PayPal or Affirm). Any payment method WooCommerce supports can be used this way.
Products
Create a B2B-only collection and send customers to it when they sign in. You can also customise your theme to hide or show products by tag, with custom code.
Yes. An automatic price list can use your WooCommerce prices (such as your retail price) and apply a discount, for example 20% off. It can also allow for your WooCommerce tax setup, whether your prices include or exclude tax. See Managing pricing.
SparkLayer supports different stock status messages, including pre-orders and back orders, with some configuration in WooCommerce. See Stock display, which also covers "due in" dates.
Yes. SparkLayer matches B2B prices to products by SKU, so a product without a unique SKU can't show B2B prices. You can add SKUs to products one at a time, or in bulk with WooCommerce's product import. See Add SKUs to your products.
SparkLayer can show stock levels and a stock status to signed-in B2B customers. See Stock display and Stock levels for the WooCommerce settings.
Not on one store. When retail and B2B run from the same WooCommerce store, they share the same stock, and WooCommerce has no way to stop retail customers ordering from it. To separate stock, either create B2B-only products, or set up a separate store for your B2B customers.
Customer experience
You can add extra fields to your existing registration page, or create a separate registration page for B2B customers. To review applications yourself, add approved customers manually in Users in WordPress. SparkLayer also has its own Forms.
Send your customers a newsletter, for example, telling them about your B2B store and asking them to sign in. The Launch checklist has example messages.
No. SparkLayer only loads when a B2B customer signs in; for retail customers, no SparkLayer code loads at all. For B2B customers, the widgets load asynchronously, so the effect on page load times is negligible.
It's possible with custom code. We recommend talking to a WooCommerce expert developer before changing your site.
Orders
In WooCommerce,Orders. The status depends on how the customer paid:
| Payment method | Order status in WooCommerce |
|---|---|
| Pay on Account | Pending payment. Mark the order as paid once you've received payment. |
| Pay by Invoice | Pending payment. Mark the order as paid once you've received payment. |
| Pay Online by Card | Completed, ready to fulfil. |
In customer groups, Pay Online by Card is called Card at checkout. See How B2B orders arrive in WooCommerce.
Yes, as long as payment hasn't been processed. Open the order in WooCommerce,Orders and choose Edit order.
SparkLayer doesn't send invoices itself. Send invoices your usual way and collect payment, then mark the order as paid in WooCommerce and fulfil it.
Set order limits for each customer group in Customers,Groups (opens in your SparkLayer Dashboard in a new tab): a minimum or maximum order total, or a minimum or maximum number of items. See Set order limits.
