Orders
How it works
When a buyer places an order through the SparkLayer cart and checkout, SparkLayer creates it in your Shopify admin. The order then appears in Orders.
An order that isn't a completed Shopify order yet appears straight away as Awaiting merchant. Usually it's a Pay on Account or Pay by Invoice order that's still a draft order for you to complete. It has a purchase ID, but no Shopify order yet.

Shows in Orders
| Order created as | When |
|---|---|
| Draft order | By default, for manual payment methods: Pay on Account and Pay by Invoice. |
| Completed order | For upfront payment by card, or for manual payment methods when Auto-complete draft orders is on in Integrations,Platform,Shopify order actions (opens in your SparkLayer Dashboard in a new tab). |
What counts as a SparkLayer sale
Any order placed through SparkLayer that completes successfully counts as a sale. The buyer must reach the order complete page, and your eCommerce platform must register the order as a successful sale. Test orders from Try it out are marked as tests, so they don't count towards your plan.
Check your sales for a period
Orders
Walk through a working copy of Orders, step by step. Nothing you do here changes your store.
- Go to Orders (opens in your SparkLayer Dashboard in a new tab).
- Choose a period from the first menu: Last 7 days (the default), Last 30 days, Last 90 days or Custom, which opens a date picker.
- Choose which orders to include from the second menu: All activity types, Orders or Awaiting merchant.
- Click Orders, Total sales or Avg. order to show that figure on the chart.
| Figure | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Orders | How many B2B orders were placed in the period. |
| Total sales | The total value of those orders. |
| Avg. order | The average value of an order in the period. |
Reading the changes and the chart
- Each figure shows its change from the previous period, the period of the same length just before it. A rise is green with an up arrow, and a fall is grey with a down arrow. A dash means there's nothing to compare.
- New means SparkLayer wasn't installed for the whole previous period, so there's nothing fair to compare with yet.
- The chart draws this period as a solid line and the previous period as a dashed line, with both date ranges in the legend. It plots one point a day for 7 and 30 days, and one a week for 90 days. Hover over the chart to see the figure for a day or week.
Find an order in Sales history
Sales history lists the orders in the period and type you've chosen, newest first. It shows the latest 25. When there are more, the foot of the list says how many.
- Go to Orders (opens in your SparkLayer Dashboard in a new tab) and choose a period.
- Find the order in Sales history.
- Click its number to open the order in Shopify.
To see every B2B order in your Shopify admin, click View in Shopify at the top of Sales history. It opens Orders in Shopify, filtered to B2B orders.
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Order | The order number. For an order, it links to the order in Shopify. An Awaiting merchant number, such as P#1264, has no Shopify order yet, so it isn't a link. |
| Date | The date and time the order was placed, for example 14 Sept 2026, 10:42. |
| Type | Order, or Awaiting merchant for an order that isn't completed in Shopify yet, such as a draft order. |
| Shipping address | The company and the address the order ships to. |
| Amount | The order total. |
Awaiting merchant numbers start with your purchase ID prefix, which you can change in Settings,Configurations,Store (opens in your SparkLayer Dashboard in a new tab). See Settings.
Before your first order
Until your first B2B order, Sales history says No B2B orders yet. Click Place a test order to go to Try it out and order as a buyer would.
If you've had orders but none in the period you chose, it says No orders in this period. Choose a longer period.
FAQs
First, check the period and type you've chosen. Awaiting merchant orders are hidden when you choose Orders.
Orders only shows orders placed through SparkLayer that completed successfully. It doesn't include retail orders placed through your store's own checkout, or orders where the buyer didn't reach the order complete page.
Manage quotes as described in Work on a quote. A quote waiting for your reply may also be listed as Awaiting merchant, numbered with your purchase ID prefix.
Shopify only
Orders paid with a manual method, such as Pay by Invoice, arrive as draft orders by default. To complete them automatically, turn on Auto-complete draft orders in Integrations,Platform,Shopify order actions (opens in your SparkLayer Dashboard in a new tab). See Managing integrations.
