Sales rep ordering

This section is for sales reps taking an order for a customer. It covers how ordering works, which tool to use and what reps can do for a customer.

How it works

Sales agent ordering, sometimes called order masquerading, brings your sales team's orders into your online store. A sales agent is a customer account in your store with a sales agent role.

When they sign in, they choose a customer and act as that customer from then on. They see the customer's prices and payment methods, and the order is placed against the customer's account, not their own.

How a sales rep places an order

The rep signs in to your store with their own account
(this flows forward)

Choose a customer

They pick a B2B customer from their open orders or a search
(this flows forward)

Build the order

They add products at the customer's prices
(this flows forward)

Check out or quote

The order or quote is placed for the customer

You can try it on our B2B demo store (opens in a new tab).

Where reps work

Everything happens inside your storefront's SparkLayer widget, at the customer's prices. Pick the tool that fits how the customer is buying.

ToolUse it forWhere the rep finds it
Order for a customerTaking an order by phone or email, finishing a customer's cart, or raising a quote. My Cart and My Customers in the widget

You need the Starter plan or above for the Catalog and Counter mode , as for sales agents themselves. See Plans and features . Pulse is on every paid plan, for reps with a sales agent seat. It's in early access: request it from the Pulse page.

What sales reps can do

Once they've chosen a customer, a sales agent can:

ActionDetails
View productsSee products at the B2B prices assigned to the customer.
Place an orderCheck out with the customer's payment methods, or submit a quote.
Shopping listsSave, edit and load the customer's shopping lists.
Address bookAdd and edit the customer's addresses, if the customer's group allows address editing.
Re-orderRe-order from an existing order in the customer's account.
Persistent cartProducts added to an order stay in the customer's cart until they check out or change it, so the rep can come back to it later.
Company usersInvite and manage the customer's company users.

With the Sales administrator role, or a custom role with the matching permissions, they can also change unit prices, add custom items, set a custom shipping rate, override quantity rules and add new customers.
