# Orders

URL: https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/pulse/orders

Use the Orders screen in Pulse to see how much your accounts order, find any order by buyer or number, and open it to reorder or check its invoice.

> **Pulse is in early access.** Request it for your sales team. [Request early access](https://feedback.sparklayer.io/get-started?choice=now). [Try the interactive demo](https://www.sparklayer.io/pulse/).

> **Quick summary**
>
> - **Orders** in Pulse answers "how are my accounts ordering?" and "where's that order?": 4 headline figures, a chart over time and a searchable table of every order in the date range.
> - Open it from the Pulse sidebar, under **TRADE**. The date range at the top of the page sets the period for everything on the screen.
> - Click a figure, a point on the chart or a row to see the orders behind it, then reorder or open the invoice from the order.
> - Figures cover orders placed through your storefront only, not orders taken by phone, by email or keyed into your ERP.

The figures at the top tell you whether orders and spend are up or down on the previous period. The table below lets you find a single order and act on it.

New to Pulse? Start with [Pulse](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/pulse.md) for how to open it and how the date range works.

## The Orders screen

The screen has tiles, a chart and a table of orders, all for the date range.

| Part | What it shows / does |
| --- | --- |
| **Orders**, **GMV**, **Avg order value** and **Active buyers** tiles | The totals for the date range, each with a small monthly trend line and the change on the previous period. Click a tile to list the orders behind it. **Active buyers** lists the accounts that ordered instead, largest spend first. |
| **Orders & GMV over time** | A chart of the number of orders and their value across the date range. Choose the **Period** (**Auto**, **Day**, **Week** or **Month**). Click a point to list the orders in it. |
| Month comparison strip | Under the chart: GMV for the current month so far, then for the months 1, 3, 6 and 12 months ago, as far back as the date range goes, each with a percentage change. |
| **All orders** table | One row per order, newest first: **Date**, **Order #**, **Buyer**, **Items** (number of lines), **Status**, **Payment** and **Value**. 20 orders a page, with **Previous** and **Next**. Click a row to open the order. |
| **Status** filter | Show **Shipped** or **Processing** orders, or both. The menu shows how many of each there are. |
| **Payment** filter | Show **Paid** or **Pending** orders, or both. |
| Search | Type a buyer name or an order number (**Buyer or order #…**). |
| **Source** | Where order and payment details come from (your eCommerce platform and your accounting system) and when each last synced. Hover over it to see the sync times. |
| **Online orders only** | A reminder that the figures only include storefront orders. Hover over it for details. |
| **Download CSV** | Saves every order in the table, with your filters and search applied, as a CSV file. |

## Find an order

1. In Pulse, click **Orders** in the sidebar.
2. Set the date range to a period that includes the order.
3. Type the buyer's name or the order number in the search box.
4. Click the order to open it.

**More detail**

To narrow the list instead, use the **Status** and **Payment** filters, for example **Processing** and **Pending** to see orders that haven't shipped or been paid. You can also press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows) anywhere in Pulse and type an order number to jump straight to it. The order opens in a panel with its lines and links to its account and invoice: see [An order](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/pulse/records.md#an-order).

## See the orders behind a figure

1. Click a tile, such as **GMV**, or a point on the **Orders & GMV over time** chart. Pulse lists the orders that make up that figure, with each account's share of the total.
2. Click an order to open it.

## Reorder for a customer

1. Find the order and click it to open it.
2. Click **Reorder**. Pulse opens the order builder, signed in as the customer, with the same lines in a new order.
3. Check the quantities and place the order.

**More detail**

The order panel also has **New order** (an empty basket for the same account), **Reorder their usual** (the products they usually order, at their usual quantities), **Open buyer profile** and **View invoice**, if the order has an unpaid invoice. See [Order for a customer](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/sales-ordering/order-for-a-customer.md) for how the order builder works.

## How the figures are worked out

| Figure | How it's worked out |
| --- | --- |
| Which orders are counted | Orders placed in the date range, by order date. Quotes are never counted as orders. |
| **Orders** | The number of orders placed in the date range. |
| **GMV** | Gross merchandise value: the total value of those orders, including tax and shipping. |
| **Avg order value** | GMV divided by the number of orders, so it also includes tax and shipping. |
| **Active buyers** | The number of accounts that placed at least one order in the date range. |
| Change on a tile | The same figure for the period of the same length immediately before the date range. Hover over the percentage to see this. |
| **Period** | **Auto** picks days for a range of up to 31 days, weeks for up to 120 days, and months for anything longer. |
| Month comparison strip | When the current month isn't finished, it shows the month so far without a change. The last full month shows its change on the month before it. The other months show how the last full month compares with them. |
| **Status** | The order's fulfilment status from your eCommerce platform: **Processing** or **Shipped**. |
| **Payment** | The payment status from your accounting system: **Paid** or **Pending**. A dash means there's no payment status for the order. |

Orders only counts orders placed through your storefront, so a total can be lower than the account's full spend. See [Where the figures come from](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/pulse.md#where-the-figures-come-from).

## FAQs

**Why is an order missing?**

Check the date range covers the day the order was placed, and clear any **Status** or **Payment** filter and the search box. Orders placed outside your storefront, such as by phone or in your ERP, don't appear in Pulse.

**Can I sort the orders table?**

No. The **All orders** table always lists the newest orders first. To find a particular order, search by buyer or order number, or use the **Status** and **Payment** filters. To sort another way, click **Download CSV** and sort the file in a spreadsheet.

**Does GMV include tax and shipping?**

Yes. **GMV** and **Avg order value** are worked out from each order's full value, including tax and shipping.

**Why does the payment status differ from my accounting system?**

Payment status is synced from your accounting system on a schedule. Hover over **Source** to see when it last synced.

**What's the difference between Avg order value and an account's usual basket?**

**Avg order value** is what orders have been worth on average. An account's usual basket is what their next order is likely to be, and Pulse uses it wherever it predicts an order. See [how the usual basket is worked out](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/pulse/reorder-radar.md#how-the-figures-are-worked-out) on Reorder radar.
