# Carts

See every open cart across your accounts in Pulse, spot the abandoned ones, set when a cart counts as abandoned and finish a cart for the customer.

> **Quick summary**
>
> - **Carts** in Pulse lists every cart your accounts have started and not ordered yet: what's in them, what they're worth and which have stalled.
> - Open it from the Pulse sidebar, under **TRADE**. Carts are shown as they stand today: the date range doesn't change this page.
> - A cart counts as abandoned once nobody has changed it for 3 days. Change that with **Abandoned after**.
> - Open a cart to take it over with **Finish it for them** and place the order, add a task to nudge the customer, or prepare for a call.

A cart with products in it is an order that hasn't happened yet. **Carts** shows you every one across your book, so you can call about a large basket before it goes cold, or place the order for the customer.

New to Pulse? Start with [Pulse](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/pulse.md) for how to open it and how the date range works.

## How it works

Carts come from your store's live data. A cart is listed once a customer, or a rep signed in as them, adds a product to it, and leaves the **Carts** page once it's ordered. Each cart has a status:

| Status | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| **In progress** | Changed within the abandoned rule: someone is still working on it. |
| **Abandoned · 4d** (for example) | Nobody has changed it for at least the number of days in **Abandoned after**. The number is how many days it has sat untouched. |

## The Carts screen

3 tiles sum up the carts. The **Open carts** table lists each one.

| Part | What it shows / does |
| --- | --- |
| **Value in carts** tile | The total value of every open cart, and how many there are. Click it to list every cart. |
| **In progress** tile | How many carts have changed within the abandoned rule, such as **Changed in the last 3 days**. Click it to list them. |
| **Abandoned** tile | How many carts have sat untouched for the abandoned rule or longer, such as **Untouched for 3 days or more**. Click it to list them. |
| **Open carts** table | One row per cart: **Customer**, **Status**, **Lines**, **Units**, **Started**, **Last change** and **Value**. 20 carts a page, with **Previous** and **Next**. Click a row to open the cart. |
| **Customer** | The account, with its email, the company location the cart was built for, if any, and **Built by a rep** when a rep built it for the customer. |
| **Last change** | How long ago the cart was last changed, with the date. |
| **Value** | The cart's total, in the currency the customer is buying in. |
| **Status** filter | Show **All** carts, or only **In progress** or **Abandoned** ones. The menu shows how many of each there are. |
| **Abandoned after** | How many days without a change make a cart abandoned: **1 day**, **2 days**, **3 days**, **5 days**, **7 days**, **14 days** or **30 days**. See [Change when a cart counts as abandoned](#change-when-a-cart-counts-as-abandoned). |
| **Source** | Hover over it for what the list includes and how the abandoned rule works. |
| **Download CSV** | Saves every cart in the table, with your status filter applied, as a CSV file. |

On a phone, the table shows only **Customer** and **Value**, with the status under the customer's name.

## Find the carts worth chasing

1. In Pulse, click **Carts** in the sidebar.
2. Click **Value** to sort the biggest carts first, or **Last change** to sort by how long each has sat.
3. To see only stalled carts, click **Status** and choose **Abandoned**.
4. Click a cart to open it.

**More detail**

The table starts sorted by **Last change**, most recent first. You can sort by **Lines**, **Units**, **Started**, **Last change** or **Value**. The first click on a heading puts the biggest or most recent first, and the next click reverses it. An arrow shows which column the table is sorted by. On a phone, only **Value** sorts.

## Change when a cart counts as abandoned

1. Click **Abandoned after**.
2. Choose the number of days, such as **7 days**.

Every cart is re-checked straight away. The new rule also applies to the **Carts in progress** tile and the **Carts** tab of the **Inbox** on the [Overview](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/pulse/overview.md), to [Activity](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/pulse/activity.md) and to the cart panel, so they all count the same carts. Your choice is saved in the browser you use, so it doesn't follow you to another device or browser.

## Finish a cart for the customer

1. Open the cart and click **Finish it for them**.
2. Pulse signs you in as the customer and takes over their cart, with its lines in the basket.
3. Change the order if you need to, then place it.

Once it's ordered, the cart leaves the **Carts** page. See [Order for a customer](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/sales-ordering/order-for-a-customer.md) for how the order builder works.

## Nudge the customer

1. Open the cart and click **Add a nudge task**.
2. Pulse adds a task for today to your [Task List](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/pulse/task-list.md), such as "Nudge about the $270 basket left in the cart (2 lines)".

To prepare for the call, click **Call prep** on the cart. It opens the account's call prep sheet: see [Prepare for a call or visit](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/pulse/records.md#prepare-for-a-call-or-visit).

## The cart panel

Click a cart anywhere in Pulse to open it in a panel.

| Part | What it shows |
| --- | --- |
| Header | **Cart ·** and the account's name, its status, the cart's reference, the account and where it was built. |
| **In the basket** | Each line: product, SKU, quantity, unit price and line total, with the **Basket total**. Click a product to open it. |
| **Timing** | **Started**, **Last touched** (in red when the cart is abandoned), **Built in** (such as **Storefront** or **Quick order**) and **Vs their usual**: how the cart's value compares with the account's average order. Underneath, **Untouched 4 days · abandoned** or **Touched yesterday · live**, for example. |
| Buyer | The account, with a link to its full profile. |

## How the figures are worked out

| Figure | How it's worked out |
| --- | --- |
| Which carts are listed | Every cart with at least 1 line in it across your accounts, as it stood at its last change. The date range doesn't apply. |
| Abandoned | Nobody has changed the cart for the number of days in **Abandoned after** or more, counted from its last change to today. A cart that was never changed after it was started counts from the day it was started. The rule starts at 3 days. |
| In progress | Any cart that isn't abandoned. |
| **Value in carts** | The total of every cart in your store's currency. Carts in other currencies aren't converted or added to it. |
| **Lines** and **Units** | The number of lines in the cart, and the quantities on them added up. |
| **Vs their usual** | The cart's value against the account's average order value. It shows a dash for a cart in another currency. |

**More detail**

When some carts are in another currency, such as euros from a second storefront, the **Value in carts** tile shows them beside the total, such as **+€1.4k**, or **+2 currencies** when there are several. Hover over it to see the amount and number of carts in each currency.

## FAQs

**Why doesn't the date range change the Carts page?**

Carts are shown as they stand today. A cart started months ago and still open is still worth chasing, so every open cart is listed whatever the date range.

**Why isn't a customer's cart listed?**

Only carts with at least 1 product in them are listed. An empty cart, or one that has been ordered, doesn't appear.

**Why isn't a cart in the Value in carts total?**

It's in another currency. Pulse doesn't convert currencies, so those carts are shown beside the total instead of in it.

**Can I search the carts?**

Not on this page. Sort or filter the table instead, or press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows) anywhere in Pulse and type the account's name or the cart's reference. See [Search Pulse](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/pulse/records.md#search-pulse).
