Answers to common questions about SparkLayer on WooCommerce: plans and billing, the plugin, themes, B2B-only products, stock, site speed and B2B orders.

## Plans and billing

**Which SparkLayer plans can I use on WooCommerce?**

Every SparkLayer plan from Starter to Enterprise works with WooCommerce. See [Plans and features](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/plans-and-features.md) and the [SparkLayer pricing page](https://www.sparklayer.io/pricing/).

**How does billing work?**

You manage billing in the SparkLayer Dashboard: your plan is in the card at the foot of the sidebar (**Plan card** in the SparkLayer Dashboard, or **SparkLayer Wholesale > Plan** in the Shopify app). Plans, free trials and billing follow the same rules as on Shopify.

## WooCommerce setup

**Where do I get the SparkLayer plugin?**

SparkLayer isn't in the WordPress plugin directory. [Register with SparkLayer](https://app.sparklayer.io/register) and download the plugin from [Install SparkLayer on WooCommerce](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/platforms/woocommerce/install.md#install-sparklayer).

**Which versions of WooCommerce and WordPress do I need?**

[WooCommerce](https://woocommerce.com/) 9 or later, installed on WordPress 6 or later, with PHP 8.2 or later. WooCommerce support is in early access.

**Can I run retail (DTC) and B2B on the same store?**

Yes. You can install SparkLayer on your existing retail WooCommerce store and run both from it. We call this a hybrid setup. When B2B customers sign in, they see the SparkLayer [frontend interfaces](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/storefront.md) with their prices and ordering options. Try it on our [B2B and retail demo store](https://demo.woocommerce.sparklayer.io/).

## Store setup

**Can you install SparkLayer on my WooCommerce store for me?**

On a block theme, the SparkLayer widgets are installed automatically. If you need help, [contact our support team](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/support.md) and we'll advise you.

**Does SparkLayer work with any WooCommerce theme?**

Yes, as long as you're on WooCommerce 9 or later and WordPress 6 or later. On a block theme, the widgets are added automatically. On other themes, they're added to your theme files by you or your developer, or our team can help. See [Add the widgets](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/platforms/woocommerce/install.md#add-the-widgets).

**How does SparkLayer affect my WooCommerce theme?**

The SparkLayer widgets (B2B pricing, the cart and the My Account area) only load when a customer in a B2B customer group signs in. Everyone else sees your store as it is today, so you control exactly who sees B2B prices and can place B2B orders.

**I already use a wholesale or B2B plugin. Can I still use SparkLayer?**

Yes. SparkLayer can run alongside it, so you can try SparkLayer first and remove the other plugin when you're ready. If the other plugin changed your theme's code, you can ask its developer to remove those changes, but you don't have to.

## Payments

**Can customers use my existing WooCommerce payment methods?**

Yes, when they choose **Pay Online by Card** at the SparkLayer checkout. They're then taken to the WooCommerce checkout, which shows every payment method you've set up in WooCommerce (such as PayPal or Affirm). Any payment method WooCommerce supports can be used this way.

## Products

**How do I hide products or set up B2B-only products?**

Create a B2B-only collection and send customers to it when they sign in. You can also customise your theme to hide or show products by tag, with custom code.

**Can I base B2B prices on my WooCommerce prices?**

Yes. An automatic price list can use your WooCommerce prices (such as your retail price) and apply a discount, for example 20% off. It can also allow for your WooCommerce tax setup, whether your prices include or exclude tax. See [Managing pricing](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/pricing/managing-pricing.md).

**How do I set up pre-order and back-order products?**

SparkLayer supports different stock status messages, including pre-orders and back orders, with some configuration in WooCommerce. See [Stock display](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/storefront/stock-display.md), which also covers "due in" dates.

**Do my products need SKUs?**

Yes. SparkLayer matches B2B prices to products by SKU, so a product without a unique SKU can't show B2B prices. You can add SKUs to products one at a time, or in bulk with WooCommerce's product import. See [Add SKUs to your products](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/platforms/woocommerce/install.md#add-skus-to-your-products).

**How do I show stock levels?**

SparkLayer can show stock levels and a stock status to signed-in B2B customers. See [Stock display](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/storefront/stock-display.md) and [Stock levels](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/platforms/woocommerce/install.md#stock-levels) for the WooCommerce settings.

**Can I keep B2B and retail stock separate?**

Not on one store. When retail and B2B run from the same WooCommerce store, they share the same stock, and WooCommerce has no way to stop retail customers ordering from it. To separate stock, either create B2B-only products, or set up a separate store for your B2B customers.

## Customer experience

**How do I set up a B2B registration form?**

You can add extra fields to your existing registration page, or create a separate registration page for B2B customers. To review applications yourself, add approved customers manually in **Users** in WordPress. SparkLayer also has its own [Forms](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/forms.md).

**How do I invite B2B customers to my store?**

Send your customers a newsletter, for example, telling them about your B2B store and asking them to sign in. The [Launch checklist](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/get-started/launching.md) has example messages.

**Will SparkLayer slow down my WooCommerce store?**

No. SparkLayer only loads when a B2B customer signs in; for retail customers, no SparkLayer code loads at all. For B2B customers, the widgets load asynchronously, so the effect on page load times is negligible.

**How do I show B2B-only content on my store?**

It's possible with custom code. We recommend talking to a WooCommerce expert developer before changing your site.

## Orders

**Where do I find B2B orders in WooCommerce?**

In **WooCommerce > Orders**. The status depends on how the customer paid:

| Payment method | Order status in WooCommerce |
| --- | --- |
| **Pay on Account** | **Pending payment**. Mark the order as paid once you've received payment. |
| **Pay by Invoice** | **Pending payment**. Mark the order as paid once you've received payment. |
| **Pay Online by Card** | **Completed**, ready to fulfil. |

In customer groups, **Pay Online by Card** is called **Card at checkout**. See [How B2B orders arrive in WooCommerce](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/platforms/woocommerce/install.md#how-b2b-orders-arrive-in-woocommerce).

**Can I edit an order?**

Yes, as long as payment hasn't been processed. Open the order in **WooCommerce > Orders** and choose **Edit order**.

**How do I send an invoice?**

SparkLayer doesn't send invoices itself. Send invoices your usual way and collect payment, then mark the order as paid in WooCommerce and fulfil it.

**How do I set a minimum order value?**

Set order limits for each customer group in **Customers > Groups** in the SparkLayer Dashboard ([open](https://app.sparklayer.io/customers/groups)), or **SparkLayer Wholesale > Customers > Customer groups** in the Shopify app: a minimum or maximum order total, or a minimum or maximum number of items. See [Set order limits](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/storefront/quantity-rules.md#order-limit-rules).
