Manage B2B payments on Shopify: review Pay on Account and Pay by Invoice orders as draft orders, send Shopify invoices, and hide checkout payment methods.

> **Quick summary**
>
> - B2B customers on Shopify can pay upfront by card through the Shopify checkout, or use offline methods such as Pay by Invoice and Pay on Account.
> - Offline orders arrive in Shopify as **draft orders**, so you can review and edit them before sending an invoice or completing them.
> - You choose which payment methods each [customer group](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/customers/customer-groups.md) can use. To hide some Shopify checkout methods from B2B customers, use a Shopify app.

## How it works

Offline payment methods, such as **Pay by Invoice** and **Pay on Account**, let you review an order before you process it. Once you turn one on for a customer group, its customers see it in the **Payment Method** step of the SparkLayer checkout, next to options such as **Pay Online by Card**. When they choose it, they see a confirmation such as "We'll be in touch after you place your order to arrange payment details."

An order with an offline payment method:

1. **Customer chooses an offline method**: For example Pay by Invoice or Pay on Account
2. **Draft order created**: The order arrives in Shopify as a draft order
3. **You review it**: Check and edit the order, then send an invoice
4. **Customer pays**: The order is marked as paid and appears in Shopify Orders

When a customer chooses **Pay Online by Card**, they go to the Shopify checkout instead and pay there. The order arrives as a completed order. For every option, see the [payment methods](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/ordering/payment-methods.md) guide, or follow each method step by step in the interactive guide [How payments work](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/guides/how-payments-work.md).

## Review a draft order

Orders placed with an offline method, and orders placed as a quote, arrive in Shopify as draft orders by default. Review each one before you send an invoice.

1. In your Shopify admin, go to **Orders > Drafts** ([open in the Shopify admin](https://admin.shopify.com/draft_orders)) and open the order.
2. Check the products, quantities and prices. The customer's details are on the right.
3. Edit the order if you need to, as you would any Shopify draft order.

## Send an invoice from a draft order

When the order looks right, send the customer a Shopify invoice so they can pay online.

1. Open the draft order in your Shopify admin.
2. Under the order totals, click **Send invoice**. Shopify emails the customer, who can review the order and pay online.

When the customer pays, the order is marked as paid and appears in your Shopify **Orders**.

To change the email, go to **Settings > Notifications** ([open in the Shopify admin](https://admin.shopify.com/settings/notifications)) in your Shopify admin and open the **Draft order invoice** template.

For other ways to manage invoicing, see [Credit limits and net terms](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/ordering/credit-net-terms-and-invoicing.md).

## Hide payment methods in the checkout

When B2B customers choose **Pay Online by Card**, they go to the Shopify checkout. There they see every payment method you've set up in Shopify, such as credit card, PayPal or cash on delivery. See Shopify's guide to [payment methods](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/payments/additional-payment-methods).

To show B2B customers only some of these, use a Shopify app that can hide payment methods conditionally:

1. In the Shopify App Store, search for apps that hide payment methods, such as [ETP Hide and Sort Payment Methods](https://apps.shopify.com/etp-hide-sort-payments?).
2. In the app, add a rule that applies when the customer has the tag `b2b`.
3. Choose the payment methods to hide for those customers, for example PayPal and Cash on Delivery (COD).

You can only hide the **Credit card** method if your store is on Shopify Plus, because of limits in Shopify's Payment Customization API.
