Add B2B and wholesale ordering to Magento or Adobe Commerce with SparkLayer: what works on Magento, how setup works, its limitations and the demo store.

> **Quick summary**
>
> - The SparkLayer module adds B2B pricing, a B2B cart and an account area to your existing Magento store. Retail (DTC) shoppers see your store as it is today.
> - It works with Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce 2.4.2 or later, and needs the SparkLayer Enterprise plan.
> - A customer becomes a B2B customer when they're in a Magento customer group synced from SparkLayer, such as **B2B: Base**.
> - Luma-based themes are supported out of the box; other themes need a Magento developer to add the widgets.

## How SparkLayer works on Magento

Your developer installs the SparkLayer Magento module, which your SparkLayer account manager gives you access to. You then create an integration that connects your store to SparkLayer. SparkLayer syncs your products and B2B customers, and creates a Magento customer group for each SparkLayer customer group.

On Luma-based themes, you switch the widgets on in the module's settings. On other themes, a developer adds them. You keep your theme, and can run retail and B2B from the same store.

You manage B2B prices and ordering rules in the [SparkLayer Dashboard](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/dashboard.md). Products, customers and orders stay in Magento.

## Install at a glance

Setting up SparkLayer on Magento:

1. **Install the module**: Ask your account manager for access
2. **Connect your store**: Create the integration and enter its credentials in SparkLayer
3. **Assign groups**: Put B2B customers in a synced B2B group
4. **Add the widgets**: Switch on for Luma themes; a developer for others
5. **Set prices and launch**: Price lists, customer group rules and a test order

The full steps are in [Install SparkLayer on Magento](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/platforms/magento/install.md). If you need help creating the integration, [contact us](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/support.md).

## What's specific to Magento

| Topic | On Magento |
| --- | --- |
| **Installing** | A Magento module, from your SparkLayer account manager, connected with a Magento integration. |
| **B2B customers** | Customers in a Magento customer group synced from SparkLayer, such as **B2B: Base**. |
| **Customer groups** | Created in SparkLayer and synced to Magento with the prefix `B2B`. |
| **Widgets** | Switched on in the module's settings for Luma-based themes; added by a developer on other themes. |
| **Orders** | Created in Magento under **Sales > Orders**, with a **SparkLayer Order Information** tab. |
| **Billing** | In the SparkLayer Dashboard, in the plan card at the foot of the sidebar. Magento needs the Enterprise plan. |
| **Metafields** | Called attributes in Magento. Turned on in the SparkLayer Dashboard, at **Integrations > Platform > Metafields** in the SparkLayer Dashboard ([open](https://app.sparklayer.io/configuration/integrations/platform)), or **SparkLayer Wholesale > Integrations > Platform > Metafields** in the Shopify app. |

## Limitations

The main differences from other platforms:

- You need the SparkLayer Enterprise plan.
- Magento's Multi-Source Inventory (MSI) module must be turned on.
- Every product needs a unique SKU, and price lists can only be managed in SparkLayer.

See [Magento limitations](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/platforms/magento/limitations.md) for the full list, and [Compare platforms](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/platforms/compare.md) to check a feature across platforms.

## Try the Magento demo store

See SparkLayer on a working Magento store that sells to both retail and B2B customers, at [demo.magento.sparklayer.io](https://demo.magento.sparklayer.io/). Go to the [demo store's sign-in page](https://demo.magento.sparklayer.io/customer/account/login/) and sign in with these details. They work for both a sales agent and a regular B2B customer:

| Field | Value |
| --- | --- |
| **Email** | `contact@sparklayer.io` |
| **Password** | `Testtest!` |
