# Ordering & checkout

URL: https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/ordering

Configure how B2B customers build carts, check out, pay and reorder in SparkLayer, from payment methods and net terms to quoting, shipping rules and invoices.

> **Quick summary**
>
> - This section covers the B2B ordering journey, from the cart to the order in your eCommerce platform: checkout fields, payment, credit and net terms, tax and shipping, quotes, invoices and reordering tools.
> - Customers order in the SparkLayer [My Cart](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/storefront/interfaces/my-cart.md) on your storefront, and each order is created in your eCommerce platform.
> - Most features are on every plan, including net terms and Pay on Account. Intelligent Cart and SparkLayer shipping rates need Starter, Invoices need Growth and Quotes need Pro (or the Quoting Engine add-on on Starter and Growth). See [Plans and features](https://docs.sparklayer.io/help/plans-and-features.md).
> - Switch ordering features on at **Settings > Configurations** in the SparkLayer Dashboard ([open](https://app.sparklayer.io/configuration/settings/general)), or **SparkLayer Wholesale > Settings > Configurations** in the Shopify app, and set up the checkout at **Storefront > Options > Checkout** in the SparkLayer Dashboard ([open](https://app.sparklayer.io/storefront/options)), or **SparkLayer Wholesale > Storefront > Options > Checkout** in the Shopify app.

## How B2B ordering works

The B2B ordering journey:

1. **Cart**: The customer adds products, from search, shopping lists, Favourites or Intelligent Cart.
2. **Checkout**: They choose a shipping address, fill in checkout fields such as a PO number, and pick a shipping method.
3. **Payment**: They pay upfront by card, by invoice or on account, or request a quote.
4. **Order in your platform**: The order is created in your eCommerce platform as a draft or completed order, and shows in Orders.

Tax is added at the last step of the checkout, from your platform's tax settings. Shipping costs come from your platform or SparkLayer shipping rates.
